2020-This book was hard to start for me. Seriously was almost exactly like a time from my own childhood. Ugh. Bad times. Had to stop and call my grandmother to discuss.
Once I recovered, I was touched by the challenges he went through. Trying to understand what everyone told him so survive must have been so confusing and overwhelming. More upbeat than the first book, this tells of David's life as a foster child from age twelve through eighteen. Further, there are some eye-opening moments that explain the foster child services. There are some clues to what caused David's abuse at the hands of his mother, but a few questions still remain. How resilient this young man is despite a few rough moments under foster care.
