This book starts out in 1976. Dana, a modern black woman lives with her husband Kevin. Somehow she is able to time travel back to the days of slavery. While there she meets some of her ancestors and she experiences all they did including the beatings and whippings they received. While time goes on there at normal speed it's recorded in only minutes here in modern times.
