A girl lost to her family is thrust into a plantation system that is totally foreign to her, she doesn't even remember her own name. Raised as a servant among slaves Lavinia just wants to love people, but her best intentioned choices brings disaster. This book was hard to read and at times I felt that it was quite predictable because the characters were so insular and had so few interactions with the outside world. I am interested in reading the sequel because I am dreaming of a happy ending. ...more
