This is an engrossing and powerful book about a young girl, Kyra, caught in a terrible situation with what seem to be no good choices. Williams catches beautifully the voice of 13-year old Kyra -- her hopes, her beliefs, her doubts, her fears -- as we see the events unfolding through her eyes. She sometimes seems a bit young and naive for her age, but that's to be expected, given the enclosed community in which she's been raised.

Oh my gosh! I loved this book. Kyra was so well thought out and I honestly loved her. I couldn't imagine growing up like the way she did and then having to come to the crossroads that she did. I listened to the book in a day in a half which is record for me so that right there speaks to how good I thought it was. Amazing!
