I read the blah description of this book on Goodreads after finishing the book. It doesn't represent the book well at all. So if you're questioning reading it because of that, just go ahead and read it.
I was really drawn in by this and read it in one sitting. The psychopath as narrator is so interesting and honest, and I love that we can see where he's going even before he does. There is so much depth and tension that I just had to keep reading.

This novel, written in the 1960's, is about an obsession and a crime. The main character kidnaps a girl after obsessing over her from afar. He wants her to love him, so he thinks that he can isolate her and build a relationship with her, all while holding her captive in a country house. The first half is told from his perspective, and the second part is told from hers. It is fascinating and creepy to put oneself in the minds of the perpetrator and the victim.
