This was an amazing book. Held my attention from beginning to end. It had some really devastating moments where I had to take a break to compose myself.

it is the kind of book where you know people are going to die and try not to get attached to them, but in the end your heart breaks anyway. I am not sure I will be able to watch the movie cause it will be even worse!

I might need a day or two before I move on to the next book in the trilogy!

I wanted to re-read the series, after recently seeing Catching Fire. I still really love this story...maybe even more than I did the first time around.


I felt a lot of peer pressure to read this book...starting with both my sons, my best friend, co-workers, even our swim coach. I have to say I enjoyed this much more than I enjoyed Twilight. Ze leeft samen met haar moeder en zusje een erg armoedig leven in District 12, maar omdat haar vader haar voor hij doodging heeft geleerd hoe ze moet jagen, hebben ze toch altijd wel wat te eten. Maar de plek waar Katniss leeft kent één keer per jaar een duistere periode. Katniss Everdeen lives in a post-apocalyptic North America called Panem which is ruled by a capitol with 12 districts. Every year 2 tributes from each district are sent to the hunger games in a fight to the death. Katniss volunteers to take her sister Prim's place in the Hunger Games and is sent with Peeta Mellark, the bakers son.
