Definitely lives up to the hype! I haven't heard anything bad about this book, and you're not going to hear anything bad about it from me, either. Two thumbs up, five stars, 10-point landing (7 for the Russians, but we throw that one out anyway). I had trouble putting it down long enough to go to bed last night, and that hasn't happened to me in a long time. Then it happened again tonight, long enough for me to finish the book (and since you can see that I'm writing this at 2:30 AM, that's rathe

Oh my goodness, I LOVED this book!! I have books that I really enjoy reading but this one I just didn't want to put down. And that is a surprise because when I first read the cover and found out what it was about, it didn't seem like my kind of book. I'm usually not into worlds that don't really exist and fighting.
The storyline was excellent and it left us hanging at just the right spot. I loved the colorful descriptions the author gave the people who lived and worked at the Capitol.

Soo. When this book first came out it was really popular and everyone was reading it. While I do like a good book, I'm usually don't read mainstream books. I'm usually all about the first time authors. Dystopian books are usually not on my reading list and are not one of the genres I care for. Having said this, my sister read the book and loved it. What makes this book great is that it is not a cookie-cutter novel. You did not know what would happen in the first 100 pages. Can't wait to read the rest.

I never thought I would have loved this book as much as I do. The story the fighting the love the unbelievable parts to it just makes it such a great read. It is an exciting story of a world where things have gone so bad that people are killing themselves to help others in their district. What a wonderful idea for a story that could truly have some actuality to it. It makes you think about where things are going in the world. This was such a great read and a wonderful start to the trilogy. I so

I almost had to give this 2 stars because the editing was horrific! I wanted to take a red pen, make corrections and ship it back to the publisher. It was horrendous and, unfortunately, took a lot away from the overall experience.
What saved this book was the plot and concept of youth's experience with war. I thought the idea was brilliant and I liked the character development. I'm interested to see where this goes in the next books... ...more

I only learned about this series when the movie came out. Determined to read the books first, I postponed watching the movie. I must admit I loved this book. It's vivid in descriptions, but not too gruesome, and very swift. I will definitely read the other books, and watch the movie soon!
