2023- Audiobook. This is the second time I have read this. I was not sure I ever would, due to how heavy the last third of it was. And yeah, I am feeling it right now. Especially having read this back-to-back. I feel very invested. This book messes with you. I get why Katniss has trust issues and the hits keep coming! While I suppose the ending has a very real feel to it, it is also sad. If you are looking for "Happily ever after," look elsewhere.

I was entranced by “The Hunger Games”. Unfortunately, I don't believe this trilogy is an appropriate reading for 5th grade level as the publisher states. The level of violence is extraordinarily high and extremely graphic. ...more

Although I felt like she rushed the ending, it was still an amazing ending to the hunger games. I didn't really expect Katniss to turn out like that in the end. It does make sense that she did though. Especially after all that she's been through. But, I did expect her to choose the right guy when it was all over, which she did. I'm not looking forward to this one becoming a movie. There is so many scenes that would be even more heartbreaking on film than they already are. Overall, a good ending ...more

Despite my expectations, I really enjoyed the first two books in the series. This final book was a waste of time. I could hardly get through it and was planning to abandon ship, but a couple (so-called) friends convinced me to continue. It was slow-paced and just flat, nothing like the first two. I get that Collins had to put a bow on the series but I wish she would've taken her time and come up with something that measured up to the first two. ...more
