I've reluctantly read this series as the subject matter (children fighting to the death for no damn reason) is offensive to me. I'm also not a fan of dystopian novels on a whole either. Though I disliked the theme, in the first book I was able to forget that the protagonists were just teenagers and enjoyed it. The second book wasn't as good and the third book just dragged on and on going nowhere until the final 100 pages or so. Katniss whined a lot. Peeta is basically a vegetable. Gale is trying ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I don't think I've ever felt as tired, emotionally washed out as I do at the end of this book. Rarely has a book had that kind of effect on me. I'm glad I waited a little while between Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

I am emotionally devastated! This book had me crying every other page!

I almost wish someone had told me to stop after the first book so I could pretend all was well.

Ugh! I slogged and fought my through most of this book. I wanted to see how the trilogy ends, but almost gave up. The first 3/4 of the book is so slow and Katniss is so whiny and wimpy. The action finally picks up for the last quarter of the book (which led me to finish it). I never felt much affinity for the characters this go around; except Peeta and Finnick.
