Uglies was a different read. While I found it interesting, it did take a little bit for me to get used to the world and characters. I loved the ending and how it made me eager to continue the series as soon as I can. I recommend it if you enjoyed dystopian novels.

I quite enjoyed this book and thought the story was unique and interesting. I wasn't sure how things would play out once Tally was recruited to infiltrate the Smoke, but wasn't at all surprised by the way they did. The ending was good and leaves me wanting to read the next book.
I listened to the audio version and thought the narrator did a great job.

Ends in a cliffhanger! Enjoyed the start to this series and will continue on.
Good premise. Dangle something someone wants in front of them and they do what you want even if there are consequences. Easy to see the brainwashing effect. I can’t wait to see how the truth unravels.

I'm not entirely convinced about this series. I like the premise and I like that fact that the lead female isn't some automatic heroine from the outset. She isn't particularly brave or commanding; she just wants to be pretty and instead ends up getting wrangled into a position she never wanted to be in only to discover being pretty might not be all it's made out to be. She has to come to these conclusions on her own, having all she thought to be true turn out to be corrupt. none of the other cha

I absolutely loved this book! The concept of turning sixteen your olds pretty already fascinated me and the book was really as good as I thought it was going to be.
In the beginning I felt that the Tally was just as superficial as the world around her but with her new understanding of the system her character gets more depth and it suits her. The ending surprised me and I cannot wait to read Pretties. I hope it is just as good and that Tally can make some fundemental changes.

3.5 stars. Really well-written, as I expect out of Scott Westerfield, but minor issues with the main character's behavior. Nothing I can pinpoint, but just weird ways of reacting to situations.

So, I read this wondering what all they hype was about I was actually looking forward to reading it. Now, i am not so sure. I really couldn't get over the amount of times that the words ugly and pretty were stated in this book. It reminded me of a child's version of the stepford wives. I think the only thing I did like was seeing Tally see life in a different way then she originally had during the beginning of the book. I like when people think for themselves. Other than that this book was a lit
