I really liked this book. It was funny and action packed. I loved Gail Carriger's Finishing School series and decided to try this one too. I'm glad I did. While she wasn't mentioned in this book, I wonder if Sophronia will make an appearance in the series.

I really liked Alexia Tarabotti. She is so spunky and she has a huge personality. She is very in your face and has no qualms about stating her opinion or arguing as long as she's doing it politely. She is a victorian lady so etiquette, fashion

“A vampire, like a lady, never reveals his true age.”

Not my cup of tea. Took me a long time to finish this book. Don't know if I'll continue the series.

Alexia Tarabotti was quite an whiney character. She hated being half Italian, her skin was the wrong color, her nose and body shape were wrong (according to who, I don't know) and I found it annoying that she repeated that all the time. I really like this book. It is about Alexia Tarabotti who was born with out a soul and has to deal with various supernatural characters. I had a hard time getting into this book but after about fifty pages I was so in to it. I really like that it was a steam punk book. It was my first one and now I really interested in the genre. I also love the relationship of Alexia and Lord Maccon. I will definitely read the other books of this series.

Soulless Alexia Tarabotti is witty, intelligent and a spinster. Despite her Italian ancestry, Alexia is born of both elite society and the local preternatural community and excluded from but she's excluded from it because of her sex and breeding. Relegated to 'the shelf' instead of attending her debut, at 25, Alexia is odd woman out whether at home, at a ball or traipsing through the local supernatural haunts.

At the latest ball to serve sub-standard fare, Alexia retires to be alone and is accos

An interesting take on paranormal genre but I was reading it as steampunk. There really was not enough to qualify it. I might come back to the others later this time knowing what genre I'm really reading. ...more
