I enjoy this type of book, with some kind of mystery or code to crack. Admittedly, some of the characters were highly convenient to the whole plot (good thing he has a rich friend, for when he needs to fly to New York!), but it still left a good impression overall. The one thing that particularly bothered me was that he revealed the final answer was a "simple numerical substitution". This was an interesting book. Overall, I liked it quite a bit and would give it 3.5 stars. There were some quirks though. Several times it seemed like the protaganist was thinking something but the people around him responded. I would reread the passage over to see if it was just me but I don't think it was. So that was confusing. Also, the characters were not very three dimensional. It almost seemed "comic book" style. The story itself was intriguing and I very much wanted to know how it ended ...more

I hope this becomes a series. I want to know what else is going to happen. Good, quick read. It seems so many books follow a specific formula so it is awesome when you get a unique read.
