This definitely wasn't what I expected though I truly have no idea exactly what I did expect as this was a book chosen as a group read not something I, myself choose to read. It was surprisingly enjoyable though the ending left a lot to be desired. It was rather rushed and totally anti-climactic. I totally missed Manutius' message. (view spoiler)

I kept wavering between really liking this book and really not liking it. Yes, it was quirky. Yes it was an interesting look at the intersection between traditional books (or OK - Old Knowledge) and technology. But I just found the characters irritating. I think the intention was for them to be funny, but I found them all just that bit too self-absorbed. Perhaps that was just me though. So I didn't hate it, but it isn't a book I would necessarily return to in a hurry. And I am rather glad I read

There are a lot of reviews of this book that will describe it as " meets ." And as much as I hate those, for this book they are completely true. This book is--intentionally--a mashup for people who love fantasy quests, technology, quirky characters, and books. THe basic premise is that an unemployed young man, Clay Jannon, stumbles into an unusual job in an unusual bookstore in San Francisco. The bookstore barely sells any books, but it has shelves and shelves of very unusual books that it loans

I'm not sure what I was expecting with this book, but this wasn't it. However, it turned out to be much more than I was expecting. Way cool!
