Though this is but the first in a series of books about Anne, it stands alone quite nicely.

Listening to Rachel McAdams narrating this novel was such a treat! She was able to bring so much life and character to the story that I’m not sure I would’ve gotten if I had read it myself. Now I need to watch the Netflix show and read the graphic novel and get a nice hard bound set of all the books.

My aunt read Anne of Green Gables regularly. Her mother, my grandmother, was born on Prince Edward Island. And yet, I never got around to reading this book until now. Why did I wait so long? For I know that if I had read it as a girl it would have been one of my favorite books ever. And even now, at a much more advanced age, it is still absolutely delightful.
