What Members Thought

I first read this as a young girl, and loved it (especially as I too was a Canadian girl named Anne and somewhat precocious too, but no red hair though!). This story is timeless, and still holds all its charm for me. I loved listening on audio this time, Rachel McAdams does a wonderful job capturing the pluck, charm, and energy of Anne.

I never read this book as a child, but I think it would have been a special book for me. Anne is an orphan and is taken in by a couple (brother and sister) by mistake as they wanted a boy. Anne has quite the imagination and is constantly getting into trouble. There are so many lovely descriptions of nature in the book and I give kudos to the author. I highlighted some of the ones that I read twice because they were so descriptive. I plan to continue to read the series.

Not sure how I missed this book earlier, but you can’t help but fall in love with Anne. She is a charming young lady that trouble likes to follow. Her sayings bring chuckles, “Well, that is another hope gone. My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes.” She does a fine job of making the most of life coming from the asylum/orphanage.
