It's been years since I read this classic so decided to revisit it as part of my 2020 Nostalgia Reading Tour. The novel is set in the nineteenth century in Canada's Prince Edward Island. We are introduced to Anne Shirley, a red headed, freckled, opinionated girl of eleven who is full of enthusiasm and has a boundless imagination. I never read this book as a child, but I think it would have been a special book for me. Anne is an orphan and is taken in by a couple (brother and sister) by mistake as they wanted a boy. Anne has quite the imagination and is constantly getting into trouble. There are so many lovely descriptions of nature in the book and I give kudos to the author. I highlighted some of the ones that I read twice because they were so descriptive. I plan to continue to read the series.
