4 stars. This was a delightful and charming read. I absolutely adored it. Anne is precocious and talkative. My goodness. She reminded me of my niece when she first learned to talk. You couldn't get her to stop and that's exactly how Anne was but times a million but I loved her character so much. She's witty, smart, dramatic and just overall a very likable character. Anne Shirley is a delightful literary character, and I found her relationship with Diana Barry to be very sweet - I don't imagine we often see such devotion in friendship today. There were so many lovely, wonderful quotes throughout the book that I couldn't possibly have written them all down. Anyway, I didn't want to get bogged down by "quote-hunting" in the midst of a book I was enjoying with a child-like intensity.
