Though this is but the first in a series of books about Anne, it stands alone quite nicely.
When Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan to help them on the farm in their old age it’s a surprise to their neighbors. But they, themselves, are surprised to find that the orphan they get is not the strong boy they requested but a skinny, red-haired, highly imaginative 10-year-old girl. My book club decided to read this classic, so for my fourth trip through it, I decided to listen to it and it was delightful as always. Montgomery's story of Anne Shirley is beguiling, sweet, and full of great quotes. I never tire of Anne and her dreams. ...more

I love the Anne of Green Gables movies, so I decided to read the books. I really enjoyed it.

This is one of the few series that though I enjoyed reading it, I am listening to it on tape. I read it the first time and listened to it the 2nd time.

This is my favorite reread. I have read it more times than I can remember :-D

About the hair thingy... it was only this year I came to think about that it would have worked, had she just applied it correctly and more than once.
