3.5 stars. I have a really tough time watching Eve and Joe go through tough times and the erosion of their relationship. Eve is just making more and more angry with her. Joe and Montalvo were great and are developing a mutual respect.

This is the first of Johansen's novels that I read, but liked this suspense thriller very much. Trying to figure out the past history of several of the characters makes for more difficult reading, however the suspense of the novel and the psychological games of the serial killer of children, Kistle, playing against Eve Duncan made for compelling reading. A little bit of everything in this one: paranormal overtones, jealousy, love, etc.

This is one of the few books in the series I missed and finally I know where Megan Blair entered the series. I enjoyed the take down of Henry Kistle as he was seriously creeping me out. (view spoiler)

Really good read, especially if you have read any of the other Eve Duncan Mysteries.
