5***** and a ❤

An extraodinary work by a new author. Emotionally gripping. One of the best books I've ever read.

Amir is the son of a wealthy, powerful, influential, larger-than-life Baba, and friends with Hassan, the son of Ali (Baba's servant). Amir is privileged and educated, but he envies Hassan's place in Baba's life. 2.5 to 3 stars. Much too depressing and graphically violent for me.

This book really had potential. Unfortunatly in fell short of what it could have been. While I didnt dislike this book I just felt like it shoud get better at then end of every chapter and it just didnt. By the time I was about halfway through it I was gettin a little irritated at how many times the author threw in Afghani words and then said what they meant in english later in the sentance.

And now it brings "The Kite Runner," a beautiful novel by Afghan-American Khaled Hosseini that ranks among the best-written and provocative stories of the year so far. Just a great story with wonderfully complex characters. Probably the best book I have re

I'm not quite sure whether I liked this book or not. For the first half of the book, I can't make up my mind who I found more annoying: the father or the son. Of course, when the reason came to light, it was completely understandable why and how their relationship was the way it is.

I rarely read books of middle eastern culture so, despite the heartaches, I did enjoy it especially when it ended with hope (slight as it was, it's still hope). My mouth was salivating at each mention of food... kebob
