Having just returned from one of our wonderful national parks, Yellowstone, I was definitely discouraged by how miserable all of the characters in Track of the Cat seem to be. Many of the people we spoke with at Yellowstone were seasonal workers who come back year after year and love the park. No one seemed to much care for Guadalupe National Park. I guess July in Western Texas is probably not the optimal place to be, but it made for a depressing story.

Good start to a series about Park Ranger Anna Pigeon, suspicious accidents, aliens and hunting game in the National Parks. I have read others in the series and so am enjoying going back to the beginning. I was hoping to find out about her previous career and maybe how she became a park ranger, but that was not to be. I did get a bit filled in on her husband Paul, the man whose death led to her up and leaving NYC.
