A friend loaned me this whole series. I barely made it through the first book. It took me about eight months to finish it. I got about one third of the way through this installment, and just couldn't make myself finish the book or the series. I had always (with one or two minor exceptions) made myself finish a book once i started it. This book began the start of me respecting and valuing my time and full heartedly embracing the belief that I have better things to do, and so many more books to re A friend loaned me this whole series. And yes, I do hate this book. The writing is awful. I've read middle school term papers that were better written.

I hate Christian Grey. He is not romantic. He is not some slightly broken bad boy you can fix. The dude has series issues that he should seek counseling for before he dumps his baggage on some poor girl. And his relationship with Anna isn't just unhealthy (and I'm not referring to the S&M/B&D here) it's stalkerish, creepy, abusive....I could go on and on. I would NEVER allow a guy to treat me that way (again not referring to the B&D community in anyway). He has no respect for boundaries. Come on he pulls a tampon out of her ... which is just eww. There needs to be some mystery in a relationship and for me tampons fall into that category. And let's not even talk about his mommy issues.

Now let's talk about Anna. She for me is the poster child for the "too stupid to live" tag that reviewers are attaching to characters now. There is a difference between being naive and unexperienced and being flat out stupid. She felt some of Christian’s actions were wrong and she should have got the heck out of dodge. She should have stood her ground. She should have had enough respect for herself to not keep going back. The situations in this book and the one previous weren't love. Christian isn't something you could fix over the span of three novels. He has deep seated issues. I feel like Anna is shallow to put up with this crap just because he is good looking, mysterious, and don't forget rich. I just don't find the author's excuses for why Anna puts up with all of this and is so deeply in instalove to be believable. And my goodness if she said "Oh My" one more time I think I was going to throw the book at the wall.

I don't normally leave such scathing reviews....but I hated this book, and the series, and how it had millions of teenage girls and grown women thinking that this type of abusive b.s. is romantic or how they should allow a man to treat them.

Definitely better than the first, but it might be sad that I think I liked this one better because there was actually less sex than the first. Oh well...
