A friend loaned me this whole series. I barely made it through the first book. It took me about eight months to finish it. I got about one third of the way through this installment, and just couldn't make myself finish the book or the series. I had always (with one or two minor exceptions) made myself finish a book once i started it. This book began the start of me respecting and valuing my time and full heartedly embracing the belief that I have better things to do, and so many more books to re

For a 532 page book, not a lot of nothing happened. The writing is still like a high schooler wrote it using a thesaurus every once in a while but not nearly enough. If Ana thought Holy cow or Holy fuck once more I thought I was going to scream. And her inner goddess, could she get any more annoying? She's so needy, naive and insecure.
I love me a tortured hero but Christian is just too much. He wasn't kidding when he said "Fifty shades of fu**ed up!" He's so possessive and even more needy than ...more

After having read the first book in the Fifty Shades trilogy, I wasn't expecting a syntactic work of art. I anticipated writing that was predictable at best, and I presumed this novel would be filled with similar expressions and descriptions which filled the first. I always have been a glutton for punishment regarding books.
I only read this series because my sister in law invited me to the Fifty Shades Darker premiere and paid for my ticket. I prefer to read the book before I see the movie...so here we are.
This is one of the few times that I enjoyed the movie more than the book.
In the book, Christian is creepy, controlling, manipulative, and mean. The movie tones down his "ick-factor" a lot and actually makes him much more likeable (though his creepiness i ...more

Reading as a bundled set of all three, this is the second in the series. Continuing where the first one leaves off, Anastasia has left Christian because of his extreme cruelty and his messed-up psyche. Her friend Jose brings them back together via his art show a few days later. Ana continues to be an emotional mess regarding Grey and her relationship...making her subconscious and inner goddess alternately happy, sad, or angry depending... Adding to her emotional morass, she has to deal with his e
