Dearest Friend,
I am sure you must be really surprised to receive this message from me after such a long time. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me for this long absence and absolute neglect or will any reason I give you for this absence be taken as naught but excuses? I have failed and I accept that but you should know that you were never forgotten. In fact, many a times, I thought of writing to you, just like in the old day

I wasn't blown away by this one. It was kinda predictable. I really enjoyed the first part of the book but the second not so much. I liked the way it was written (by letters) but at the same time we didn't connect that much with the different characters. The audiobook was pretty good since it was a full cast audiobook. ...more

It was just a nice read. Nice characters, nice story.
I really like the whole story was being told through letters.

The story was told through a series of letters centered around Juliet and her quest to know the members of the Guernsey Literary Society and their tales of German occupation during WWII to gain material for her new book. The letters did a great job of bringing each character to life and made me wish I could travel to Guernsey to meet them. Juliet's sparkling, vivacious personality was a fantastic addition to the unique members of the Literary Society. ...more

Very good epistolary novel. I loved the beginning as each member of the literary society shares a bit with Julia about the books they are reading and what the society has gotten up to. I would have given this five stars, but the ending was a tad predictable. Each member of the society is quirky, has their own reasons for reading and shares some profound thoughts. I want to read more!
