Right From The Get Go.

A Fatal Thaw, gets you in right from page one. The reader becomes a witness to the murders from the killer's point of view, seeing as the victims are killed all in a gory sequence, until his capture by Kate and Mutt, (her half wolf) and it all happens by the end of chapter one. All neatly wrapped up, right? Not by a long shot. Then comes the twist. The twist that gets you really sucked in.

The first day of spring in Alaska shows signs of thawing at Kate Shugak's cabin. But for Roger McAniff it is the beginning of his killing spree which brings him to Kate's backyard. I wasn't really keen on the first book of the series, but this one was better. I'm not sure if that is because my expectations were low, or because (view spoiler) I'm not still sure about the human characters of this series, but I do like Mutt. ...more
