Scarlett O'Hara is young, beautiful, and completely selfish. She is in love with Ashley Wilkes, Ashley is promised to marry Melanie Hamilton. Then comes Rhett Butler, he is in love with Scarlett although you may not guess it at first from the way he acts.

My heart was wrenched out when I was reading the last 100 pages of the book. I can't bear to give this book 5 stars because my 5-star books make me rejoice, "damn I will read this book over and over again". Well, not this book because of the emotional rollercoaster. I was shredded into pieces.

Still an excellent story.
I would also still pick Rhett over Ashley any day, Think that Melanie is a saint, because she just couldn't be that oblivious and want to often just smack Scarlett.
However, it is well worth reading if you never have and also the movie is amazing. ...more
