The minute I finished this book I stood up and said "Wow! That book just knocked my socks off!". I probably would have used a little stronger language had my 8 year old daughter not been in the room. But I'm glad she was in the room to see my spontaneous reaction to reading such an excellent story. I enjoyed this, but not as much as I had thought I would based on its description and other people's reviews. Protagonist Beatrice doesn't accept the verdict that her sister Tess's death was a suicide and is determined to find out what really happened, in spite of protests from her parents and the police. In the process of trying to do so, she moves into Tess's apartment and, in some ways, sheds her own personality to take on Tess's.

This one was not for me.
I did find the writing style really good, much more unique than more straightforward narration.
I just was not really drawn to the characters and at page 50 decided that I had not captured my interest enough to keep reading.
