2020 Reread. I still love this book as much as the first time I read it.
This book was amazing. One of my favorite I read this year for sure. I can't help myself, I imagine it as a movie already. It would be so perfect with a director like Baz Luhrmann or Tim Burton please universe make it happen and don't screw it !

I am glad that I gave this book a second chance.
I dnf'd years ago due to the second person, present tense perspective that just rubbed me up the wrong way. Luckily second person was used sparingly and I got used to the present tense.
Once I got over that I was able to absorb myself in this original and creative book all about magic and the imagination. The author does a great job of portraying setting and bringing the story alive for the reader. On that count I cannot fault this book. I did, how ...more

I'm usually not impressed by fantasy stories too much. I read many books of this genre simply because there is a lot of talking about them and I want to find out if this book might also impress me.
I have found it! While I have been reading, I have almost felt the magic, I have believed that magic is real. The words, sentences and conections are incredible, wonderful! Fantastic cover!
