To me this read as if the author was heavily involved with some mind-altering drugs.

The characters, in particular Maya and Gabriel, are what I really liked about this book. The story-line grabbed me at first, but as things progressed, I lost interest a bit. The bad guys were just so bad and rather predictable, and some of the miraculous saves of the situations Maya and Gabriel found themselves in were entirely unbelievable (and I'm good at suspending disbelief when immersed in a good book). Maya wants no part of the danger that swirls around her. Gabriel wants to ride off into the sunset. Michael wants money, security and power. The Evergreen Foundation wants to talk to other worlds and you are being watched. I cannot wait to read more of this series. It is not life changing, but it does make you think about technology use, surveillance cameras and other dimensions. I think my favorite characters were actually Hollis and Victory from Sin Fraser.
