The mystery is interesting and it isn't until the final chapter that you find out who the villain is and for once I had absolutely no idea and was pleasantly surprised. I like this series but I honestly don't understand the relationship between Ruth and Nelson.

2023: So loving the re-visit with these early novels in the series. Besides the wonderful Golden Age-style mysteries in each one, it's great to remember how all the characters changed throughout the series to get them where they are in the current novel. Love, love, love!

I like this series, I want to love this series. I hate the adultery/baby aspects, but when I skim over those parts it is always an interesting story.
