This hit the exact spot that I wanted it to. I really liked the characters in this book, Ruth was incredibly relatable to me and behaved in a very realistic manner. I didn't think I'd like Harry at first but that quickly changed. Nice to have a police officer/detective character without a troubled past and a million demons. I gave this book 2 ½ stars and have rounded to 3. I am not sure if I will continue with this series. I did not like the writing or especially care for any of the characters. Ruth annoyed me with her constant complaint of her weight and how lonely that she was. She did not attempt to socialize and preferred to stay in her home alone. It also appears a little strange to me that she is an archaeologist but is asked to help solve a current kidnapping/murder mystery.
