Neil Gaiman is a truly talented writer. I had heard so much about this book before I started it, including an interview with Gaiman himself, that I had high hopes. I was not disappointed. The depth and complexity of this novel made it a pleasure to read, but it was still a page turner. Shadow is a fantastic hero - he made me think of a flawed Jack Reacher. Liked it but was very graphic. The story became boring during the middle, but picked up steam towards the end.
It has sex, booze, drugs, and extremely bad language. It also involves old and new gods, leprechauns, dwarves, and a good at heart felon who just wants to get on with his life after prison.
