Great storytelling! I kept thinking this was a true story translated into English, that’s how well the author wrote it.
Two important points:
-I am jealous of the lovely kimonos the author depicted. Want my own collection now.
-The only thing the novel was missing was more sushi eating.
The ending made me wonder what Sayuri’s life would have been like if she had made more honorable choices and less selfish ones. I guess that’s the question we all as human beings will eventually have to answer.

Chiyo and her sister Satsu is sent to live with the geisha's by her father as their mother lay dying. Chiyo is immediately single out for the geisha house due in large part to her beautiful gray eyes. Satsu is not so lucky and is sent to live as a prostitute.
