A book hasn't gutted me like this in a long time. Of the last 100 pages, 80 of them I was holding back tears and the final 20 I was sobbing. I might still have some tears on my cheeks as I write this review. I loved the choppy way the book was written (which is completely a personal taste thing for me). Wow! Just, Wow!
I know I'm late to the party and most have read this book by now, but somehow this book always eluded me. I had no idea who the narrator was, the plot of the book (except it is set in the WWII era), who the main character was, etc. I am so glad I didn't know. I had no expectations going in, except that everyone I knew who read it said it was one of their favourite books ever. Now, it's one of mine too.

Also ich bin mir noch immer nicht sicher, was ich von diesem Buch halten soll. Es ist toll geschrieben, wie ich finde, sehr malerische Sprache was mir durchaus gefallen hat.
Leider konnte ich nicht so wirklich eine Beziehung zu den Charakteren aufbauen. Zwar habe ich mir öfter gedacht "Mann, ist die gemein!" oder "Das ist aber traurig." aber so wirklich mitfühlen konnte ich nicht sehr oft. Ich denke das lag daran, dass es ja doch eher eine Aufzählung von Ereignissen aus dem Leben von Liesel sind ...more
