Another fantastic book by Allen! I loved this premise of this book with the magical herbs and flowers. The apple tree was actually it's own character and I loved it! Once I started this book, I couldn't stop reading it so I just sat and read it until I finished it. It only took me a few hours. I highly recommend anyone who likes Sarah Addison Allen or magical realism to read this book. It was a 5 star book for me simply because I could NOT stop reading it until I was finished with it. Read it! ...more

I thought this was a very good book. I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the characters and plot of the story. Once I got started reading I could not put the book down. I had to keep on reading until the end. I like how Sarah Addison Allen would not just stay with one character point of view, but she jumps around to different characters so they could tell their side of the story and that side will add to the plot and make it flow.

As with her other books, very cute story and quick, easy read. The ending was a bit more rushed than I prefer.

Nevertheless, this turned out to be a charming story of the two Waverly sisters from Bascom, North Carolina and their unusual family legacy. Claire has lived for nothing but her magic and her successful catering business, while younger sister Sydney fled the small town and a broken heart to follow in ...more
