I found it tedious. I might downgrade it to two stars after I sleep on it. Her parents were insufferable. I only gave it an extra star because it was well written, if a little lacking in emotion. But she painted well enough how childhood ignorance can be so forgiving.

In a nutshell, this was the relentlessly heartbreaking (though often darkly comic) true story of four children being raised by two completely incompetent parents. The circumstances that the children found themselves in time after time during the first 16 to 18 years of their lives due to the utter selfishness of their parents were just too much to be borne!
