Loved this book. One of my favorites of 2018. This is a long book as most of Kristin Hannah's books are, but it's definitely necessary to tell the story completely. I hated to put this book down and was eager to pick it up again and continue reading it. It tells of the thirty year friendship between Kate and Tully. Their ups and downs and everything in between. It is such a readable book and the writing flows so well. Just fantastic. There is a second book that continues this story. I will proba ...more

This was a very well written book that spanned over 30 years of two best friends. The story began in elementary school and progressed well into adulthood. Tully and Kate both had issues but I really liked them both. This book brought me to tears, which I never get emotional to a fiction book. I love Kristin Hannah and will read anything she puts out. However, I just could not warm up to Tully. She was too selfish, too self-centered to be liked. Do not even get me started with Tully and Johnny. That part really irritated me. I just thought Katie deserved better. I think the end tried to make it better but Johnny and Tully still said inappropriate things to each other, disloyal. Ick. Plus if you have seen Beaches, you have read this book.

Actually, I'd give this 3 3/4 stars....

At first I didn't care for the story. I couldn't get into it or the characters. Then when I was finally able to sit down and read for more than an hour, it got better. The last 200 pages had me hooked, and by the time I finished I was a hot mess. I cried, no wait, I bawled.

I couldn't help it. It hit a little too close to home. There should be a warning label (if there was it would completely spoil the story...but sometimes someone you know, who knows what y
