This book is exceptional! I would not be able to do justice to the writing if I tried to summarize the 117 chapters (or 1243 pp.) I can see how this book was very popular when it was first released in a serial formal from August 1844 to January 1846. And continued to be republished many times throughout the century. I read the book in 5 days. I could not put the book down and it repeatedly surprised me.

Wow! Inspired by a real-life case of wrongful imprisonment, author Alexandre Dumas (1802-70) wrote a novel of suffering and revenge for the ages, featuring the transformation of a man imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, into the near-divine title character. Long, but one of the best books you'll ever read in your life.
