Leí este libro por las lecturas compartidas de "La pecera de Raquel", pero no llegué a apreciarlo. Diré que sufrí bastante con este libro, se me hizo pesado, sin gracia, y no llegué a simpatizar con ninguno de los personajes.
Supongo que en unos años y cuando yo esté en otro momento (menos estresada, espero), lo leeré de nuevo, y veré si realmente me disgusta tanto como en esta primera vez.
Por ahora sólo diré que está ok, es un clásico, pero a mí no me gustó.

I read this for a book club and as a Jane Austen type novel. I have read Emma by Jane Austen. Villette is not near as good. Set in England and then France, Villette tells the story of Lucy Snow, the god-daughter of a bourgeois widow and her physician son. The book meanders a lot. It could be much shorter. Because I was not fluent in French, I listened to the Recorded Audio Book version. Recorded Audio Books is always a good narration and they did not fail this time. Not a fan of this work. Just too much....sometimes I wanted to shout "Just shut up...I get it already." and what's with all the passages in French with no translation..... the main character and narrator Lucy Snow doesn't really know much French herself....but decides to perplex her English-only readers? Bronte is obviously a gifted writer and I remember loving Jane Eyre but here she just seems to be on a mission to use every adjective in the dictionary.
