After totally hating the first book, I gave this series another try and found I really liked Sookie, Bill, Sam and even Eric. I will definitely be reading further into the series.

This is a reread for me. I guess I didn't rate it after my initial reading, and I can't remember if I rated it 4 or 5 stars. This time it's definitely 4 stars.

The one thing that I liked about the series that we didn't get in the books was Lafeyette as a more fleshed out character.

My mind had a complete refresh with this book because I found myself going, "Oh yeah!" so many times. A body found in Andy's car, The Newlin's, Sookie doing

I enjoyed this more than the first book. Now I have a bit of an inkling why people enjoyed the series so much, there's definitely more fun in this one. I like Sookie, Bill, Eric & Sam, & I'm enjoying the development of Sookie's supernatural abilities. The maenad was a bit of a surprise - I love that Callisto feeds on pride. ...more

So when I read the first book I was at the beach and read it in a week. I realized quickly after coming home that I finished it so quickly cause I was at the beach and that this second book would not be finished nearly as fast. But I did like this book. I didn't care for the maend and I still am drawn to Sam more than Bill. I'll keep reading this series but it'll probably take me a while. Haha. For some reason I just can't focus as good reading. I use to be able to tune out everything if I was r ...more

Liked this one a lot more than the first one. Sookie wasn't quite as annoying. If anything Bill annoyed me more. Which is weird, as I really liked him in the first book.

Ok, so, in this one we have 2 story threads - the first concerning the murder of Lafayette. The second involving a trip to Dallas and a run in with the Fellowship of the Sun. Both were dealt with rather well, Sookie is growing on me - as is Eric (hmmm, attending an orgy in pink lycra, nice). He's the kind of guy you don't want to

Didn't like this as much as the first one, but enough to immediately go to the library and get the third book. Because of the TV series, I'm on Team Bill and the constant bickering between Sookie and Bill gets grating at times. Hepburn and Tracy they're not. ...more

I enjoyed listening to this book. Sookie always gets in trouble, gets rescued, gets upset, gets over it. I laughed at some of the antics in this one. However, it can get pretty gruesome at times too.
