I started this on audio and 4 hours into it I was still not fully engaged. I almost dropped it as a DNF but was encouraged to try it in print. I am so glad that I did! It was delightful, interesting and I was completely engaged with the challenges of these rabbits as they tried building a new life for themselves. A solid 4 star read for me.

Beautiful and heartwarming read. It's much more than just a story of rabbits, trust me!

This was a ridiculously long audiobook (16 hours!) about rabbits world building and I loved every last word of it. Ralph Cosham, a fabulous narrator who, sadly, is no longer with us has a voice for every rabbit and how he kept them straight is anyone's guess. I love that this is a story told by the author to his family on long car trips. Thank goodness for the world of fiction, his children talked him into writing the stories down and getting the book published.

I only wish I had read this book sooner. This is one I plan to read for many years to come!

Whilst on holiday, at Point Lonsdale, I happened to walk into Post Office/ Gift Shop. Whilst in there, I noticed a copy of Watership Down. Never having read it, curiosity got the better of me. So after reading the blurb, I got a copy. Good thing too. This is one of the best books of it's type, that I have ever read.
Watership down is inspirational. It is captivating, humorous, thought provoking, engaging and just a damn good read. ...more

These rabbits are just trying to live their life and make bunnies. The humans, the cats, and other rabbits are not letting them live!
Richard Adams told this story to his children while taking them to school, and putting them to bed. It doesn't seem like a story I would make up for kids. The difference could be that I am female, but there is a lot of violence, and discussions making bunnies. I wonder how old they were. ...more
