This was a re-read of a book I've read and loved years ago. It's still such a good story. It's got all kinds of adventure and real characters to care about (even if they are rabbits). I can definitely see myself revisiting this one again in the future. ...more

A classic must read.

Adams' characters were inspired by his experiences with people he knew including his own father and British 1st Airborne personnel. Even though they became anthropomorphized rabbits, they also maintained their own rabbit like behavior.

I still think of owl's eyes every time I approach an on-coming vehicle at night.

How this is marketed at kids I don’t know - it is heartbreaking on the edge stuff . Those rabbits kept me on the edge throughout their entire journey xxx

This is a story about adventure, leadership structures and community. It is the kind of book you could read for a literature class and find meaning and allegory everywhere. It is also something that can be read like a fairy tale; it's whimsical and full of fables the rabbits tell each other. It's a classic, something that probably everyone should read once.

This is plot-driven, rather than character driven. I didn't latch on to any of the characters, and most of them only serve in a good vs. evil
