5 stars. A grumpy old man. A no-nonsense pregnant woman and her dorky husband. Two adorable little kids. And a cat that just won't go away. Seriously, this cast of characters are all so charming and lovable. I literally hugged my kindle to me like a weirdo when I was finished reading it. I didn't want to say goodbye to them.

I'm just going to proclaim it now even though I've only read two of his books ...more

Words cannot express how much I loved this book. Absolutely perfect in every way, and I will definitely be reading more from Fredrik Backman. Loved it and highly recommend it to everyone!

Well gosh, my first read of 2023 is a 5⭐️ read and honestly, its going to be difficult to find a better book than this! I feel like I know several old, Swedish (or European or whatever exact nationality--take your pick, but in my life, I know Swedes) men who have grump-ish natures similar to Ove and being honest, even I have thoughts similar to his sometimes! Thinking about younger generations always being attached to their phones, never obeying road signs, stores trying to rip you off with BOGO ...more

I have found a new favorite author. This is second book by Fredrik and I am in love. The best word I can think of is charming. It warms your heart but it is not all sunshine and roses. You will not regret reading this book.
