Giving it 3 stars only because I am mildly curious about how it all turns out so maybe I'd like it if I could get myself to finish.

Have decided that this year, if a book makes me put it down a lot and also not really want to pick back up again for several days straight, I'm giving up and moving on. Life's too short and too many other books to read out there!

It's more about thoughts and feelings and relationships then actual events which is what made it drag for me. I might revisit later because

Crake and Jimmy grow up in a gated community of the future where science has taken some of today's concepts to the extreme. After high school Crake goes to a super genius college where he learns about secret scientific creations and their potentials eventually determining to put his ideas into reality. Snowman lives in a world where GMO's rule the world. There was a recent...something that wiped out the population and he may be the only human left on the planet.

The story switches between the present day of Snowman dealing with the children of Crake and trying to survive, and the story of how he got there.
