What a magical story. I absolutely loved the characters Kelly Barnhill created in this story. It took me about 10 chapters before I was fully invested, but once there, I couldn't put it down.

I adored this book. I loved Luna, the girl who drank the moon; I loved Xan, the unwitting witch who lets the girl get enmagicked; I loved Glerk, the swamp monster who might also be the Bog; I loved Fyrian, the Perfectly Tiny Dragon who forcibly reminded me of Olaf from Frozen; I loved Antain, the madwoman and her paper birds and even the Sorrow Eater.

Beautiful cover. That and the idea of a girl who becomes magical after drinking moonlight caught my interest. However, this story seemed rather dark for a children's book. My library has this shelved with the childrens' books-not even the YA section. The story is based on an evil witch who uses her powers to create a society of depressed and sorrowful people so she can feed off their extreme sorrow.
