I don't normally read non-fiction, but this book was certainly decent. I had a bit of a tough time with some of the characters and their descriptions or speech styles. Overall, not a terrible read and certainly educational, but not really the type of book I would typically go for.

i enjoyed learning what i learned in this book. if it hadn't have been for me reading this with my book club, i may not have read it so i am happy that we came across it. parts are sad, parts make you smile, parts may you think....great biography!

Interesting topic, but I couldn't quite grasp what the author was trying to say. For part of the book, it seemed as though she was supporting the family in wanting Henrietta to be recognized for her "contribution" to medical research. On the other hand, the afterword specified that the only law to actually be enacted as a result of this situation was the patient's right to privacy, inferring that Henrietta's story should never have been released.
