The first 1/3 of the book went pretty slow and took me a long time to get through. The second 1/3 of the book was pretty sweet, but quite shallow. The final 1/3 of the book had some nice insight and wisdom on life (and death), and caused me to tear up a little, I will admit. I wish that (view spoiler). On the verge of turning sixteen, Liz Hall is killed by hit-and-run driver while on the way to meet a friend at a store to buy a prom dress. Strangely, she awakens on a cruise ship and it takes her awhile to realize that she is dead and that the ship is headed to the afterlife, a place called Elsewhere.

Liz is almost 16 when she dies and makes her journey to Elsewhere. Elsewhere is quiet and peaceful, you can't get sick or any older. In fact when you arrive, you start getting younger. On the boat ride to Elsewhere Liz comes to the realization that she died. She isn't very happy when she arrives and has a hard time adjusting to her new surroundings.

A very unique read. Definitely for a young reader, who would have probably given it a 5 star rating.
