While not quite of the same caliber as Laurie King's Sherlock stories, this was still entertaining as it provided a back story to Sherlock's enigmatic brother Mycroft. In this version, Mycroft is a young man just setting out on his career as a government bureaucrat when his fiancee Georgiana and his best friend Cyrus both have their reasons to return to Trinidad. Mycroft follows and gets entangled in an underground movement to reinstate slavery. I'd read more in this series. ...more
