Anne Calloway's future is already planned out. She's going to marry Gerard Godfrey, a wealthy young banker she's known all her life, and begin her life as wife and mother. Based on the summary, I expected this book to focus on an old painting, Bora Bora, life for a woman in the Army Nurse Corp., a romance, and a crime. In reading the first half of the book, I found details of the first three minimally present. There was a romance but it seemed a little shallow and contrived. I expect the crime will be introduced in the second half of the book. Unfortunately, I did not feel engaged enough at the halfway point to finish the book.
