Red herrings right for the very beginning! They coloured the characters' perspectives and therefore, the readers'. I absolutely could not pick out who until it all became very obvious. The Dry is an immersive crime novel set in outback Australia. The drought was killing off the environment, animals, and businesses but was it such that it factors in this horrific murder-suicide?

Jane Harper has a knack for drawing out the suspense while keeping the reader interested, a talent that's proving rather rare these days. I definitely enjoyed The Dry, although I'm more than a lit confused by the ending. 🤷🏻♀️

I don't really know what to say about this book. I finished it. It was ok. But it's not something that will stick with more and it's not a series I'm likely to want to continue on with. I just found myself not really caring about any of the characters, about the storyline, it was just kind of bland to me-nothing outstanding.
